Artist Biography:

Anne Pratt [1806 - 1893] a botanical illustrator that was from Strood, Kent. She was one of the best known English botanical illustrators of the Victorian age as stated by Blunt "Many popular flower books of the Victorian age, such, for instance, as Anne Pratt’s The Flowering Prints of Great Britain contrived to combine easily digested science with miscellaneous romantic flower-lore."* She moved to Brixton, London in 1826 where she developed he career as an illustrator. She settled in Dover in 1849, then in East Grinstead in 1866 where she married John Pearless. During this time she produced more than twenty books all illustrated with chromolithographs. They then moved to Redhill. She died in Shepherd's Bush, London.
