Description:

Hand colored. This revised (second edition) map features the troop movement in this campaign of the British as well as the "rebels" including General Howe’s landing, battle at Flatland on Long Island, fleet invasion of New York City, battle at White Plains and retreat position of the "Rebels." Offers major roads, towns, cities, forts, a simple mileage scale and bodies of water in the areas including Long Island, Manhattan, Western New Jersey, and Staten Island. An earlier first edition of this map entitled, "Sketch of the Country Illustrating the late Engagement in Long Island," was printed in October, 1776, indicating the initial British troop movement in this campaign. Surry and paper re-enforcement. Tear professionally repaired.
