Description:

This is a leaf from France, Paris, Use is unknown, circa 1450, on vellum 172 x 118 mm. approximately (3.82 x 2.36 in.) There are seventeen line of Gothic script ruled within red lines with a written space of 97 x 60 mm. approximately (3.82 x 2.36 in.). Capital initials consist of two and one line each in embossed gold alternating on red and blue penned rectangular grounds. The leaf is from the Office for the Dead, Matins, Second Nocturne, on Tuesday and Friday, the ending of Psalm 22: "Et ut inhabitem in domo Domini: in longitudinem dierum." "And that I may dwell in the house of our Lord for length of days." The capital initial "A" begins Psalm 24: "Ad te Domine levavi animam meam: Deus meus in te confido, non erubescam." "To thee O Lord have I lifted up my soul: my God in thee I put my confidence, let me not be ashamed." Verso: seventeen line of Gothic script with two and one line each in embossed gold alternating on red and blue penned rectangular grounds. Condition of this leaf is Fine [F].
