Artist Biography:

Claude Lorrain [1604/1605 – 1682] traditionally just Claude in English (also Claude Gellée, his real name, or in French Claude Gellée, dit le Lorrain) was an artist of the Baroque era who was active in Italy, and is admired for his achievements in landscape painting. These Mezzotint engravings are after his original designs in the Collection of His Grace the Duke of Devonshire. Richard EArlom [1742–1822], English, highly respected, mezzotint engraver, executed these prints in the manor and taste of the drawings. The Work was published by John Boydell and Hurst, Robinson & Co.
