Description

This is a leaf of early printing from the book De Caesaribus by the Roman prefect of Pannonia, Sextus Aurelius Victor (c 360 CE) It is a part of four small historical works which have been ascribed to him on more or less doubtful grounds(1) Origo Genlis Romanae, (2) De Viribus Illustribus Romae, (3) De Caesaribus, (4) De Vita et Moribus Imperatorum Romanorum exccrpta ex Libris Sex. Aur. Victoris. The four have generally been published together under the name Historia Romana. Publisher unknown, circa mid 18th Century. The octavo leaf measures 160 x 105 and contains 33 lines of Latin text printed single column on paper. This leaf contains the numismatical likeness of five Roman emperors; Maxentius, Maximian, Constantine and Licinius The Verso: contains the same amount of lines and type and contains Liblus Severus.
