This double-page map presents France with lithographic colour differentiating the 96 departments. Bodies of water featured include The Atlantic Ocean, English Channel, Bay of Biscay and Mediterranean Sea. Longitudinal and Latitudinal lines are clearly marked on each map with "Longitude West from Greenwich" and "Longitude East from Greenwich" at the top and "Longitude East from Washington," at the bottom. Transcontinental Submarine Telegraph cable lines are indicated. Map is in English with a few French translations. Large inset of "Plan of the City of Paris" is found in the lower left corner including a legend at the bottom identifying 73 major sites. A smaller inset of "Corse" (Corsica) is found just to the right. Map is oriented with North at the top. No compass rose is provided. Distance scales in "French Kilometres" and "English Statute Miles" are found in upper left corner just below the map title. Major cities, towns, rivers and geographic terrain are identified.
