Artist Biography:

strong>January (Jan) Goeree [1670 – 1731] was a draughtsman, engraver, poet and author; mainly active in Amsterdam where he also died. The son of Willem Goeree and pupil of Gerard de Lairesse, in 1715 he designed ceiling paintings for the town-hall of Amsterdam (painted by Hoogzaat and Rademaker). He was mainly active as designer and engraver.
