Description

An unusual leaf from an illuminated Koran section (Juz 14) probably China, Khanbalq (Beijing), 17th/18th Century Arabic manuscript on cream colored paper, five lines of text to the page, copied in bold Sini style rayhani script, with Islamic Chinese style decoration and an illuminated frontispiece of geometrical and floral designs mainly in red, green, yellow and gold, sura headings in red thuluth script, with prominent marginal illuminated decorations (300 x 195 mm.). Verso: five lines of text to the page, copied in bold Sini style rayhani script. Condition of this leaf is under fine [F-] due to devotional use and age.
