A leaf from a highly used fragment of an Ottoman Koran dated 1754, most likely Istanbul, on laid paper of high quality (155 x 105 mm). This leaf consisting of fifteen lines of fine black naskh script between gold roundels, Sura heading in white thuluth script on polychrome rectangular grounds with lovely multicolored marginal medallions. Verso: fifteen lines of fine black naskh script between gold roundels, Sura heading in white thuluth script on polychrome rectangular grounds with lovely multicolored marginal medallions. This Koran was scribed by Mohammed el Hasimi Alani who wrote, "This was written by the most humble of writers, Mohammed el Hasimi Alani, who wrote it the help of Almighty God in the year 1175 AH (1754 AD)". Condition of this leaf is under fine due to climatic and devotional wear [F-]; a skilled conservationist has repaired some of these leaves. (Reference: The Decorated Word - The Nasser D.
