These two leaves (Set) are from a fine small Koran (123x142 mm.) that was scribed in Qajar in the mid 19th century, scribed in black elegant naskhi. Many authorities consider the Gulf States to have produced work second to none, especially the illuminated introductory and end pages of the holy books. Sura headings are in red on a gold or blue and gold ground and verse endings are marked with gold medallions; gold floral decorations encircle the page. Some additional notations mark the 5th and 10th verses. Verso: fifteen lines of elegant naskhi script. Condition of these leaves is Fine [F]. Currently in 11 x 14 inch acid free mat ready for a stock frame.
