Artist Biography:

Lewis R. Wright. - The Illustrated Book of Poultry, published in London, Paris and Melbourne. This series of poultry lithographs, popularly known as Cassell's Book of Poultry, has a text by Lewis Wright, illustrations by Joseph Williamson Ludlow (1840 - 1916) an English illustrator who created fifty chromolithographs for Lewis Wright’s "The Illustrated Book of Poultry". This series, which is widely regarded as the most desirable of the English poultry books contains beautifully chromolithographs; examples of the purebred fowl praising the owner, by implication, and listing, where appropriate, the cup or ribbon won.
