Description

This is a leaf of early printing from the 'Medalische Historie Der Republyk van Holland' by Pierre Birot, which is a history of that country by chronicling the impressions on coins and metals. This edition was printed in Amsterdam in 1690. The first edition was written in French and printed three years earlier in Paris 1687. The quarto size paper leaf measures 225 x 176 mm. in totality and contains 18 lines of Roman style type printed single column in Dutch with printed annotations on the outside. It is adorned by a steel engraving of Anthony Perenots. The Verso: contains 18 lines of the same type style and the coins of several Cardinals. This attractive leaf contains only the hint of foxing as well as some chipping about the outer edges.
