Description:

Map engraved by Alexander Anderson (1775–1870). New–York is surrounded by non–detailed areas entitled, "British Territory," "Pennsylvania," "Vermont," "Massachusetts," and "Connecticut." New–York details consist of towns, county and township (some numbered) boundaries, pictorial relief and bodies of water. A Scale in "American Miles." is given at the lower left, and a simple circular cartouche is presented just left of lower centre. Philadelphia is chosen for the Prime Meridian. Map backed with Holland Ingres rag and clay paper. Slight discoloring along original fold. Minor foxing.
