This leaf is a beautifully scribed but plainly decorated consisting of seventeen lines of black Nasta'liq script on paper with margins in gold from an incomplete copy of Shahi Subzuwari's Diwan of the late 16th Century (225x145 mm). The paper is of good quality linen, which has been well burnished to show the script. Shahi was one of the Persian sufi Muslim poets who expressed Sufi Muslim ideals in lyrics, the most famous was Hafez. Verso: seventeen lines of black Nasta'liq script. |
