This is a hand written manuscript leaf from a Kulliyat, Persian, circa 1610, on paper (260 x 150 mm. or approximately 10.25 x 5.875 inches). There are eighteen lines of black elegant naskhi script with headings in red ink. A fine quality leaf from an edition of Sa'adi's works including the Bustan (Fruit Garden) and the Gulistan (Rose Garden) compiled as a "Kulliyat" during the reign of Abbas the Great (1586-1628). Sheikh Sa"adi (c1180-c1292) is acknowledged as the greatest moral leader in Persia in the Islamic Sufi tradition. Verso: eighteen lines of black elegant naskhi script with headings in red ink.
